OUR COMMUNITY
We are serving and empowering the whole of Indangalasia Sub Location in Kakamega County with a population of 9,000 people. There is only one government- run dispensary with no meds. The area has five primary schools and one secondary school. Due to no piped water in the area (we share a common well), the community is exposed to many water borne diseases. There is a scarcity of food as the land has been depleted and many farmers depend upon fertilizers that they cannot afford. The only Non-Governmental Organization in the area is a resource center for HIV/AIDS. There are 43 churches of different denominations in the area, yet the crime rate and intensity of brutality has increased.
OUR WORK
Our vision and desire is to develop MULEMBE SHALOM RESOURCES (MSR): A Haven of Empowerment for Sustainable Transformation to empower the community to do their own development and to achieve wholesomeness

through the following objectives:

1. Rescue and provide a peaceful and restful place to call home for community members, especially girls who are married at a very early age and those who are in abusive relationships and marriages, whose parents and society encourages them to stay in the relationship at the expense of some of them losing

their lives.

2. A place of rest and restoration for gospel ministers and Christian care-givers.

3. Establish a Bible study in the community, using the worldwide respected Community Bible Study in order to teach non-believers the truth of the Gospel and deepen the knowledge and faith of believers. For more information, see communitybiblestudy.org.

4. Start a monthly intercessory prayer fellowship for ministry leaders in the community for the spread of the word of God.

5. Enhance existing self-help groups and build new ones in the community so that struggling people have a safe place to go for emotional help and life-changing guidance.

6. Decrease malnutrition in children by teaching the community the importance of each family having an organic vegetable kitchen garden.

7. Assist school-aged children in the community to attend school by paying fees, buying uniforms or books for the neediest children.

8. Reduce the number of water borne diseases by encouraging the community to build shallow wells and rain roof catchment.

9. Equip local church leaders in sound doctrine by providing access to seminary-level theological education made possible by Third Millennium Ministries (see thirdmill.org).
