Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya is a melting pot of many cultures and peoples with a dense population and the centre of commerce. The city has widely diverse areas ranging from the affluent retail and luxury estates in Westlands through to the slums in Kabira, home to 1 million people. Refugees are drawn to the city in the hope of a better life and young people struggle to complete education and find work.
We have two Kenyan volunteers who work in Nairobi. One is focused on developing refugee womens skills in setting up business and the other teaches music in skills to children who would not otherwise get the opportunity. If you would like to hear more, please do get in touch.
