Families in a small village in Kagwema survive with only their most basic needs being met - in fact even those basic needs often go unmet, with very poor housing, no sanitation, no income and limited access to work. There is huge potential in the community and a real desire among those families to unlock the assets that they do have - small plots of land and a hunger to work to provide for their families.

To empower these 48 families, they need a decent roof over their heads and the opportunity to cultivate land to grow food for their families and for the local market.

A further 38 families live next to the city dump in Bujumbura amid the violence and trauma that occurs only too frequently. Education is the key for the next generation to escape the grinding lack of resources which forces many to see the city dump as a place to scavenge trash that they can sell for bread. The attraction of the dump is strong and wars against the journey towards education and long term sustainability. These families are also being invited to relocate to Kagwema where they can heal from the trauma of the city and provide for their families.

So how can we all come together with these families, everyone bringing what they have to the table, with the goal that these families move from surviving to thriving - and that they all begin the journey of realisation that God has not forgotten them and that He loves them and wants to impact every part of their lives.

The desire is to buy land both for housing, but also for cultivation to empower these families.

Could you be part of this exciting investment in transformation?

Land costs £6000 per 3600 sq metre plot. A plot would enable 6 families to build homes or 2 families to being cultivation. So £20 bus 10 square metres or £100 buys 50 square metres....We need over 60 plots costin £500,000 with all the housebuilding and planting costs.

We have raised £27,000 for the first phase which will enable us to buy the first plot and build the first home. Would you consider joining us to buy the next plot?
