For many years, we have been connected to the town of Molo on the western side of the Rift Valley in Kenya. Molo and surrounding district has a population of around 100,000 and has a high number of young people. Low income, resulting from the lack of employment, means that many children do not get the opportunities they need to flourish.
Families are very often dysfunctional and its the children who suffer the most from all kinds of abuse and often only have one parent to provide care and support.
Every child has the right to a safe home and an education. These cannot be taken for granted in Molo and, thankfully, we are able to work with Molo Street Children Project who have seen this need and have taken action to rescue the most vulnerable and help them reach their potential.
Molo Street Children's Project is a well established organisation that provides a nurturing environment for the most vulnerable. MSCP is a registered CBO (Community Based Organization) in Molo town, in Kenya.
It seeks to reach, rescue and help realize the potential of abandoned and neglected kids whose home would otherwise be the unsafe streets. There is a rescue center which provide a safe environment and since the beginning of operations in 2003, the organisation has impacted more than 500 children.
Here is their mission: "Our aim is to provide care and support to needy destitute children. in the Molo community. We want to continue to work with parents and guardians to keep children in their community and with families wherever possible. The current house where the children live is kept small so children can experience a family atmosphere which provides maximum nurturing"
